Health & Wellness Initiatives
Udayachal, in collaboration with Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati, conducts various health-related programs for the well-being of its students and the larger community
1. Annual Comprehensive Health Check-up
Every year, Udayachal organizes a free, full-body health check-up for all its students. A specialized team of doctors from GMCH—including departments such as:
- Pediatrics
- ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat)
- Ophthalmology
- Orthopedics
- Psychiatry
- General Medicine
visits the campus to conduct evaluations. These doctors perform in-depth medical assessments and prescribe necessary medicines or recommend further investigations if needed.
If required, students are referred to GMCH for blood tests or advanced diagnostics, with follow-up consultations arranged at the hospital. This ensures early detection, timely intervention, and holistic medical support for the children.
2. Dental Health Check-ups
Periodic dental camps are conducted at Udayachal to assess and maintain oral health among the students.
3. Blood Donation Camps
Udayachal also organizes blood donation camps, encouraging staff, volunteers, and the local community to participate and support this life-saving cause.
4. Special Psychiatric Assessments
Occasionally, specialized psychiatric evaluations are conducted by an Associate Professor from GMCH, along with her team. This initiative is aimed at better understanding the individual needs of students and providing appropriate mental health support.
5. Vaccination Camps
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Udayachal extended its outreach by organizing vaccination camps in multiple remote areas of Guwahati and even outside the district, helping underserved communities access life-saving vaccines.
