Northeast's First Para Boccia Training Centre Inaugurated at Udayachal
The first Para Boccia Training Centre in Northeast India was officially inaugurated today at Udayachal, Guwahati, by Ms. Sukanya Sharma. Developed in collaboration with the Paralympic Association of Assam, this landmark initiative marks a new chapter in promoting parasports in the region.
Ms. Sukanya Sharma, along with the Chief Managing Trustee of Udayachal, Mrs. Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, interacted with young para-athletes and even tried their hand at the sport. Udayachal, already known for its inclusive sports infrastructure, houses a dedicated Boccia court and has emerged as a hub for para-athletic training.
The centre has proudly hosted major events like the 1st Northeast Para Sports Meet 2024, the 4th All Assam Para Sports Meet, and the Inter District Para Boccia Championships.
Adding to the celebrations, we are proud to share that one of our promising para-athletes, Bharat Chetry, has been selected to represent India in Para Boccia at an international event in Kazakhstan,2025. This is a moment of great pride for the entire Udayachal community and a testament to the hard work of our athletes and trainers.
Udayachal remains committed to empowering persons with disabilities through sports, inclusion, and opportunity.
